Noise from factory headunit

I have the factory navigation/cd changer unit in my ‘07 Limited. I’m assumung the issue is the fan behind the unit becase started making an unusual noise it’s hard to describe like a very fast clicking like something got stuck in it. The only time it stops is when the engine is shut off and open the door so the unit isn’t running.

What’s involved as far as taking apart the dash and get the head unit out? It still works great, but I want to take care of it before it possibly makes the fan burnout

Removal is pretty easy.

Open up the center console and remove the two bolts near the latching mechanism. Right on top, can't miss them.

Lift the console and set it to the side on the passenger seat. No need to disconnect any wiring. Just move it out of you way for now.

Next, pry up gently on the center trim that sits in front of the console and surrounds the shifter. Helps to have the shifter in the center of it's travel. Lift up and set to the side. The center chrome ring might come loose but no problem. Good time to clean under it anyway.

Then, starting at the top near the radio, gently pull the trim that surrounds the radio and contains the buttons for the 4x4, the heater and other accessories. There's three clips on each side running down the side of the trim. When you get it loose you have to work it around the shell of the shifter surrounding plastic that got exposed when you removed the shifter trim. Also have to squeeze it down to clear the center vents. Easy but be gentle.

Once you have it free just set it to the side. No need to unplug anything. You should see the 4 bolts that hold the radio. Once removed it should slide out.

I just did a repair on my display but didn't have to remove the radio to do it. Just all the others parts I've described.
