I need some help in identifying the source of a noise from the left front tire area of a 2000 Explorer XLS. It's a kind of squeaking sound, but with a lower pitch than a typical squeak. I hear it during turns and when going over bumps. Even a slight turn of the steering wheel will produce it, and it continues throughout the turn. It seems to be more noticeable at low speeds.
There is plenty of clearance between the tire and the wheelwell.
I think this noise may come from the steering mechanism or the axle, or possibly the suspension, but I don't know enough to be able to say more. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be?
Thank you
