I could really use some help. Recenly on my wifes 99 Explorer XLT behind the front wheels it has started making a terribly loud squeeking noise. I know its not the shocks I just replaced those. Does anyone have any ideas or a link with some step by step "how to". I know just enough to be dangerous but can follow directions rather well.

Need more information. like when does it make this noise - when rolling or thurning left or right does it change when you apply the brakes does it change with speed increase / decrease

Right now it is sitting in the driveway on a flat surface if I turn the wheel left or right I get a pretty loud squeeking noise. I get the a little of the noise when I speed up or slow down but mostly when the wheel is turned. Additionally if I push up and down on the bumper I will hear the noise as well.

might be low on fluid ,have air in it .

My wife has corrected me she says its more like a creaking than squeeking not sure if there is a difference.

first verify that the power steering fluid level is full sounds like it should be easily located by having some one turn the steering left /right while you lay down at the front and listen probably gonna be a tierod end or upper/lower balljoint

Noise

Been looking through some of the threads....could it be the UCA or he sway bar. From the pics I have seen and where it sounds like the noise is coming from I think its the UCA, but then again I am pretty ignorant on this that is why I am asking.

yes it could be the upper control arm that is where the upper ball joint is I doubt it would be the sway bar tho but any thing that moves could be the culprit
