Couple of questions...........

If they're hydraulic why do they make a noise?

How can they be quietened without stripping the engine down? Turning the radio up isn't an option.

A while back I put Mobil 1 Synthetic oil in my 1988 van. The engine was very noisy, and didn't sound right. When I put thick oil into it, the sound lowered, and went back to normal. It doesn't mean that there's a problem with the engine. It's just that the thin oil doesn't dampen the sound like thick oil does. Check your oil pressure. Low pressure from a weak pump doesn't circulate the oil as much as it should.

The oil pressure guage reads "normal" much as it has for as long a I can remember. Moves up slightly when fully warmed up and at interstate speed.

So it reads at about 55 - 60% across the guage dial. Now I know these sender and guage combos aren't always accurate but I don't really want to get in there and fit a manual guage. As I say, it's about where it has been for as long as I can remember.
