Non working Speedometer

Last week my speedometer stopped working. It will not move at all. The tachometer is still responsive. I get nothing out of the speedometer. I have a 1994 Explorer XL, it is has a manual transmission. Do I need to replace the speedometer? If so, how?

Check out the VSS. Vehicle Speed Sensor. Not sure where they are located exactly on the explorer but I know on my 2.3 ranger it was on the top drivers side of the transmission. One bolt holds it in, unclip the clip, put new one in. Took 5 minutes.
