So I have a stock CD Radio in my 1999 Ex Sport.

My motor went on it (4.0 SOHC timing chain grenaded), and I had a mechanic put in a new(ish) on for me. Since getting it back, I notice a sort of clicking noise from the radio while driving coming from the radio.

Is this the radio picking up some kind of interference from some wiring in the engine bay, or is there now a problem with the radio?

I wasn't planning on replacing the stock radio yet (already has a cd player which is enough for me with the FM radio), and I don't want to go out and buy a new head unit only to find the noise still there and nothing wrong with the old one.

Anyone know if theres something causing it or is something wrong with the radio itself?

It seems like its more of a crackling noise, and i didn't notice it when playing a cd yesterday, just with the radio

Anyone have an idea what it could be from?

The antenna wire may have come loose from the back if the radio.

Check antenna wire connector behind glove box and check the wire braid gound strap from fender/firewall to hood

Thanks, I will check those. I'm assuming its coming from under the hood area and probably something they didn't connect properly or the same way when they put the new motor back in.
