I'm not sure if I am in or not, but I am "up for anything" if I am.

I'd be up for anything... however, there are a lot of great trails around the shaver lake area and dusy ershim trail is not that much further away. 31 miles of rocks!

Dusy and a stockish Explorer

Besides, Dusy won't be open until late June at teh earliest.

Cayote Lake is a grat day run for the more prepaired. So is Swamp lake. But again, depending on the snow pack, they don't usually open untill June.

so what level of trail is everyone comfortable with? im down for a day trip or even an over-nighter. any time after may would work for me. a weekend run would be ideal.

I would be down to join you all! I live in Sacramento, right off of Interstate-80 and highway 50. Sadly, i do not know many trails besides heading up near the rubicon. I know there are a lot of logging trails around icehouse..but i have yet to really go "offroad" and it would be a second time for me. I would be down for anything, though i don't think i checked that box lol. My setup is simple, 4-5in of lift with 33's and geared. Heck, I may be able to get a buddy of mine, though he drives a 83 yota.., to join if he is welcomed that is :)

I agree about coyote. there is a good couple days of wheeling up there. red lake, strawberry and mirror for the more prepared. west, strawberry and red can be done with near stock explorer and picking good lines.

There are some trails near bass lake, bald mtn and Jose basin. All have some good wheeling and can be done in near stock vehicles.

I love the sign at the top of Mirror warning to walk the trail a bit first so you don't add your name to the list of people taken by it.

if you guys get a chance, look up hennes pass road trail, bowman lake-bloomfield trail, or allegany trail. those are all great runs and all of them except the hennes pass road can be done in a day and all of them could be done in stock explorers except for maybe allegany. its really beautiful up there, with lots of good spots to stop, get out and explore.

Good suggestions guys.. I was thinkIng somewhere up passed strawberry theres some good fire roads and whatnot

A buddy of mine suggested star lake, near shaver lake. I have never been there but he said there is some decent wheeling up there.

Yeah, after we walked the trail, the first time we went up a couple years ago, we left. I went down that trail with a buddy in his rig this past summer and was glad we chose not to try it the first time. Now that I have 35's and a winch, I'd definitley give it a shot.

So I was reading through one of my books and found the Calaveras dome trail. Its rated sure easy, but the scenery looks awesome, and it should be pretty easy to get to for everyone in the nor-cal area. Its near the corral hollow trail if anyone is familiar with that trail which could also be an option if everyone wants to run something harder.

I spotted this trail:

Plummer Ridge Trail. Appears to be "moderate" Has anyone heard more about this trail or ever gpne through it? I looked it up and seen some people say it is difficult and then again it reads a stock vehicle can make it..so it can't be that bad, right??
