I have a 91 Explorer XL 5 speed. 2 years ago (a month after buying it!) the transmission went out.
Then about 6 months ago or so, we noticed that sometimes we had a hard time getting the gear shift into 1st gear, like it would never really "click" into place.
Now we want to sell it and we can't get it into any gear. Reverse makes a grinding noise. My husband thought it was because he needed to bleed the clutch. He tried to bleed it, but he never was able to get any fluid out of it.
So we are stumped. He doesn't think its the clutch (we know the new clutch was put in w/ the new tran)
Anyone got any ideas?

hey em i know i had the same problem with my tranny.

see the tranny that is in your rig t is the M5OD or the crappy mazda tranny as everyone else refers to it as.

there are two possible problem with it
1) and most likely the slave cylander has gone out, to check, just remove the resivoir cap and feel aroud the edge with your finger, if your finger returns with residue other than clutch fuid(brake fluid DOT3) the your slave has gone out
2) is your master cylander witch can be cheked the same way

i'm not shure as to where you are but if you are around the potland or area i know a a honest tranny buisness that i can refer you to

as a matter of fact i just picked up my crappe M5OD from there this morning. he will do it in a day for around a hundred buck(don't quote me) but pretty shure.

he is real honest and very hard woking, he will have it done for ya the next day or two at the latest.

just e-amil or pm me if you have any more Q's and or conserns, hope that helps
