it's my friends grandparents, not ours, I'm guessing they like it, they keep it at their beach house here on Las Olas BLVD if you know where that is in FL (FT. Lauderdale) but they live in Kentucky. Definitley smooth, I love it, 120mph feels like your going 30mph no wind or road noise whatsoever, it's such a nice car, I think it's much better then others that cost way more money. And it will spank plenty of cars when you floor it, especially kids in Mustangs that don't realize how quick they are. Also, they have the Euro suspension option on theirs, and it handles incredibly, and the reviews of it said that a 5 series BMW only handles a little better but still does not have as nice of a ride.

As for my grandparents, they have a 95' Towncar with dual Magnaflows lol. they just sold their Arden Jaguar XKR this past summer:( . That car was sweet, extremely fast and powerful, look aggressive as hell but still smooth jag shape, and sounded like a mix between a Cobra and a Ferrari, it had that dohc burble but screamed when floored. They we're just looking at an SL-55 AMG but decided not to get it cause my grandmother didn't really care for it, which I can't figure out why at all?????

Anywayz, Stephan, not sure if they have a website, but try looking for Jaguars modded by Arden, and make that your next car...you won't regret it...I loved driving it. I'll post a link if I find one.

edit- agreed, I think this was only one of the only threads that didn't turn into a flame when talking about cars, so thats cool as hell, later bros.

EDIT - ok somehow I just double posted, sorry bout that, it won't let me delete it.

they had their Arden XKR in Black, it was sweet as hell, they had a coupe though, not the vert thats in some of the pics. Very fast and stealthy. They ordered it in 00', never really talked about it though cause it's a pricey car and didn't want to come off like a snob.

 I love Jaguar's...:D After riding in my Uncle's XKR Vert. I fell in love with British cars. :)

try riding in an Arden version, it hauled, the stock XKR will run about 4.9 seconds to 60 stock and had somewhere around 370hp, the Arden version had 462hp. There was like no plastic anywhere, everything was either Connoly Leather or Woodgrain like you can see in those photo's.

never rode in a vert, but I know they're still nice as hell. XKR and XK8 are beautiful, the new XKR and XK8 comming out is drop dead gorgeous.

Oh wow!! I just finally had time to read this thread. It was jeep now...Accords.

Here's my $0.02 on the Accords. My dad has a '98 Accord EX-V6, the one with the 200hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. That thing can pull, especially at high engine speed, like above 4000rpm. I love that car. When I'm done with my Explorer, I'm thinking of going back to an Accord.

Stephen, the new Accord specs are:

3.0 Litre, 2997 cc
240 hp @ 6250 rpm
212 lb-ft @ 5000 rpm
10:0:1 Compresstion Ratio
24-Valve SOHC VTEC
Curb weight - 3360 lbs.

At Edmunds.com, here're the performance stats:

0 - 30 (sec): 2.9
0 - 45 (sec): 4.6
0 - 60 (sec): 7.0
0 - 75 (sec): 10.2
1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 15.42 @ 92.9

Heh it pulls above 4k because the VTEC system kicks in and adds that extra intake valve. ;) It should pull at any RPM in any gear, but hey, Honda is for high-rev tuners :p *Laughs*

Here are my three reasons for picking a Explorer over a Jeep;

1) I am a FORD kind of guy so I believe in driving a FORD even if it is a Pinto.........

2) I bought a four wheel drive to use in the mountains so it didn't matter what it road like on the highway.

3) Everyone around here has a Jeep so I wanted something different. I get a lot more looks and questions on how and why I have such a nice looking rig up in the mountains on the hard trails.

After all the mods I have done I do still like how the Explorer goes down the highway.
I look at it this way, doesn't matter what you have as long as your having fun playing with it.

I will take a Maytag dryer over a GE any day of the week!!

Besides, it's fun to stick it to the Jeep guys when the little Exploder can fly right through a mud bog where they would get stuck ;)

They don't call it an Explorer for nuthin' :D

I've always liked Jags too, but the problem is they have never had an offering that interested me. The S Type is too small, and while I like the styling of the old XJ, it was always way too cramped and outdated for me. When I trade my Lexus in July I am going to look at the new XJ though, it looks very impressive.

The new XK8 and XKR are just incredible, their gorgeous. I never was into Jags really until my grandparents had the Arden XKR, such a nice car. Perfect car IMO, extremely powerful, will out-handle an M5, quality is amazing, absolutley beautiful, very comfortable and quiet - until you floor it, engine sounds amazing with their mods.......Go buy a new XJ series and send it to Arden;) , it is pricey though:(

Wow. Well, to reply to everything in this thread:

First of all, I got my Explorer used from my parents when I turned 16. Before the Explorer, my parents bought a '92 Cherokee. It was always in the shop, and was just a general POS. They figured it was a lemon and bought a '93 Cherokee. Like its older brother, it was always in the shop and was just a general POS. So they bought a '94 Explorer. And that's the only experience I really have with Jeeps.

Last March my dad and I went on a college tour throughout New England, and we rented a Mercury Grand Marquis that came with GPS. That GPS was incredibly useful, and now my dad refuses to rent a car without GPS. He'll probably end up getting GPS installed on his car at some point too.

DVD players in a car. How can you not love that?

Having done no research into the situation, I would buy a Taurus over an Accord. My friends would just never stop giving me crap about driving a Honda :D

I checked out the Arden website, and those are pretty cool. I e-mailed it to my dad to see what he'll do to his XJ8, but he'll probably never mod that car :(

There we go, I think I covered all the topics discussed in this thread

haha, speakin of the LS400's i suprised a guy today. he pulled into a lane next to me and his lane ended and i made him work for it! he didnt expect me to get on it :D :p

I surprised a Lexus once by beating him in a race :D Although it was an ES300, not a 400 ;)

Hey TarHeel, that was YOU?!?!?! lol, just kidding.

Oh yes, the XJ Jags are gorgeous, hard to believe that body style is getting as old as it is isn't it? Only problem is I cart customers around a lot and need the seat space, or I'd be driving something along those lines myself.

Oh and Majisto, you KNOW the ES300 does 0-60 in around 8.5 seconds DON'T you? ;)

Just noticed a credibility problem with this whole thread. wj-jeep-guy (Sp?) lists his birthday on his profile as "April 27th, 1988" If you do the math you will see that he is only 14. This would make it impossible for him to OWN that jeep he claims he does, and it would be VERY VERY unlikely that he has driven any of the jeep he says he has UNLESS there is some mistake.
Very intresting...

-----Nate

(Just saw an ad today that has a pic of a Jeep's grill and says "Only in a Jeep" and I rolled my eyes and thought... 'typical jeep mentality... they think they are the ONLY ones who can offroad... so silly')

haha, funny im suprised more people havent caught on to that. i saw that the toher day  and yes Hondas/Acuras are high revvers. in my dads Acura CL Type S i can have it in 1st at 5K RPM and still rip wheels! the only problem is the damn traction control in that thing i can never throw down the power at first in the crucial seconds of a race (to 45)!

I think the XJ Jags have more than ample seating space. And if there isn't enough space, you can get the "L" option which adds 5 inches of legroom to the rear seats. It's a pricey option, but damn is it comfortable

Its not that there isn't enough seating space in the Jag XJ, they don't have much headroom or shoulderroom and the front seats a very narrow, doesn't make a difference if its the L or the Vanden Plas. They have all the seating spaces, but when compared to my Lexus, especially the new 430, a Benz S Class or a BMW 7 series, they dont FEEL nearly as roomy because of those issues and because the windshield is so small and close to the driver. I hope the new XJ holds the priceline because the current one is very well priced, well underneath the BMW and Mercedes, around the same as the Lexus.

And Nate, what does it matter if he's 14? If he put his birthdate in the profile he doesn't care if anyone finds it out, and he seems more than knowledgable about the vehicles, so why can't he have an opinion? I personally commend him for coming here and putting forth his opinions in the way that he has even moreso knowing that he's only 14. As for the Jeep ad, everyone does that. Have you seen the new Explorer ad? "Its lonely at the top, for the leader there are no boundaries" showing the Explorer driving around in the clouds? Now if thats not arrogance then I don't know what is. Some may say that ad is true, but if it is, so is the Jeep ad. Which is more offroad capable, a 2003 Grand Cherokee or a 2003 Explorer? No question there.

Don't mean to sound harsh, but your post had no place in a thread like this one where all the person in question did was discuss his opinions about his vehicle of choice in a VERY polite and respectful manner. We've banned adults much older than him that couldn't do that.

Being young is not a crime, and as long as he's older than 13 (thats the law) he's just as welcome here as you are.

I just noticed that you're 16, how would you feel if someone came at you and mentioned that fact that your Explorer actually belongs to your mother because you legally have no property until you reach 18? You would feel that comment had no place in this thread wouldn't you?

Please think about the bigger picture before you post.
