Best bet may to fab up a set of airbags. Otherwise, a torch or sawzall will be your friend:) Pretty low though? Ride would suck A LOT!!!

trying ot keep it under $500 and i know the ride would blow so bad... and i really am not into cutting into the frame and strut purches and such... mabye ill just have to cut my factory springs and pray it dont beat me to death

I went with Belltech springs and they lowered it a lot more than the advertised 2.5". Especially now that they've been on there for a long time, and I have extra weight in back from stereo stuff, I rub as it is when I go over big bumps. I have 22s with 285/35 tires, and I cannot fit two fingers between the top of then tire and the fender.

I just can't see the appeal of lowered trucks/SUV's. IMHO, either leave them stock, or lift them, but I guess everyone's entitled to their opinions...

do a body drop on it, that way you keep some sort of ride quailty and if you can do some fabrication might not cost alot just my 2 cents

Ya, it's just a matter of individual taste. Personally, I don't see the appeal of lifting a vehicle that isn't a rugged 4x4, but people do it all the time.

I plan on having a lifted vehicle some day, but it probably won't be an Explorer, and it definitely won't be a third gen. Mine is a 2WD V6, and would be silly lifted, but at the same time, what's the fun in leaving it stock? I saw the potential to make it look a lot better by lowering it, which works well with the theme of customized interior and elaborate A/V system. On that note, the fact that it's an SUV works really well for that because of all the room. I wouldn't do the same to a pickup, although I have seen several lowered custom pickups that are really, really bada$$, so I can appreciate them.

yea look my explorer is 2wd so i want ot lower it... my wifes truck is a 2005 chevy suburban 4wd with a 3" lift and 35"s and its fun and great but want a lowered truck and would be dumb to lift a 2wd...atleast in GA it would

Rofo-stock, lowered, my grandma can get in the Ex. Lifted, I have to pick my grandma up by the ass and I don't want to pick my grandma up by the ass!

I have no problem with anyone lifting their Ex's. I have a 10" lifted ranger on 35's with a V8. The Ex is a family hauler and lifting it will make it harder for certain people to get in and out. Plus whenever I have a kid, my girlfriend only being 5'2" will have a tougher time putting a kid into a carseat if I was lifted on 33's or 35's. So to each his own!

You need to come up with some mote coin if you want to drop it that low and do it the right way, while maintaining some ride comfort. Otherwise, a torch is in it's future, and you could drop it all the way....but the ride will likely suck.

I've done lowered vehicles for a very long time....some cheap, some expensive. Air bags would be the way to go....but of course that would come in much more than $500 :)
