Now THAT'S one stuck J**P!!

A chain???

That looks like fun, but his bumper and hooks didnt look to be well attached. Also pulling with a chain? If he had two or three straps the loader could have pulled it up and out.
Looks like fun.

D-rings don't look too bad in the pic, the bumper mounts are a different story... If the loader was in closer, and had his bucket higher, he mighta helped lift it a bit, but if the bumper was so weakly attached, still woulda bent it up as much if not more... oh well all in fun!

You have to wonder, did any of his buddies try it? That is one serious stuck. Ohh well, probably changed that guys attitude from 'all jeeps with a lift a some tires are unstoppable' to 'are you sure we can go through that' which isnt a bad thing.
Either way, that is sick.

remember, unibody pos

There is a Ford in the one picture hooked up to it, but they were probably too ashamed to get proof of the actual recovery

now thats lots of mud

got close to that stuck once, trying to help pull a friend out of it:confused: definently a learning experience

:chug: :chug:

hey whats up guys. thats my rig in the pics. yea it was a fun day indeed. it didnt look like that before i went in. infact little did i know that some huge truck with 44'rs dug out those ruts you see. otherwise there was hard earth all around it. coulda happened to anyone. i had a chevy z71 extra cab with 35's try to pull me out first. and he was giving it hell yanking really hard. then i got 3 guys from the jeep club with their cj7's and cj8. both had warn 8000 lb winchs. we were lining up the jeeps and giving it a pull when the strap broke.thats the broked 9 dollar fogs you seee came from. at that time a road grator tractor was driving by so we waved him down. he couldnt get to close and again the strap broke. he then offered to get his front end loader. well he pulled the crap out of it and spun his tires. he wouldnt lift the bucket because he was afraid of the chain breaking. so finally we got 3 jeeps lined up in a row because there was nothing close to tie off to. we highlifted the front end and dug out some of the hard dirt around the axles and put logs under the tires to keep them from sinking. we eventually used a winch with a snatch block and she came right out and fired right up.

the bumper is grade a material although it bent a little. we really gave it hell. i am impressed with it. most of what appears to be bent i was able to correct by just loosening the bolts and re adjusting it. ill take it off later to get it back to normal.

the interior leather cleaned up great. the carpets im still working on.
i had one broken pass side axle at the cv boot and wheel bearings making noise. i changed the diff fluid, oil, and tranny fluid. changed the plugs , wires, and distributor.
and a new mopar performance pcu which costs 25 bucks with the 100 dollar rebate from the old one. some melted vacum lines.

oh yea and a new shock for the pass side rear. alll in all not bad.
made some new friends and learned to always check the depth of even the most innocent looking puddle.

one thing i have to say about jeep owners is that they came to my rescue and i really have only met them once. ill tell you honestly , after that front end loader couldnt get me out i was very doubtful that anything short of a chinook could. but these guys were not giving up and they got me out like they said they would. i hope that anyone one of us would behave this way for another stuck off roader regardless of what hes driving.

im lifted 5" with 32. until i upgrade the axles then im going with long arms and 34's.

glad you enjoyed the pics.

haha i just read all of your threads. and there was no fords involved i assure you. just one chebby z71 and the loaders. and fyi there wasnt that much mud and water around the hole until i sprayed it everywhere trying to get out. ot was dry hard earth around what appeared to be a smaller hole. funny how some of you are so negative about jeeps. we dont sit around (or at least the places i hang at) and bash other trucks. infact ill say that we all like to use the 8.8 out of the rear explorer. 31 spline please. just having some fun. not afraid to get my truck dirty . its 8 years old after all. realx and have some fun.

rob the snob, you should change your name to suit your image. elitist explorer. there are guys on jeeps unlimited like you. thats why i dont hang there. if you wheel your rig then what the hells the difference.
i know most of you guys are cool;)

I do think the he's got a point guys... I only bash jeeps to my friend who has an XJ and its only between us and its all in good fun. I'm lucky enough to have a 4x4 and it just happens to be an Explorer. I don't think we'll get anywhere if we get tooo elitist about our trucks. We all know that the IFS front end ain't the greatest for off roading, and we all know that a lightly built XJ or ZJ are great trucks. (they've got alot of a better following in the aftermarket ~ thats for damn sure!)

The thing that got me thinking is that he found our sight and registered here... finding jokes about his 'stuck' are fine, but we probably should rethink how we portray ourselves and our idiot calling.

Anyway... one hell uva mud hole and I agree with him... I really doesn't look that deep considering there's dry ground all around the hole... I'm glad i've seen this so I don't do anything stupid..

My thoughts exactly, some of us act like Ford is king and nothing else is worthy, that is just nuts. Like so many have said, anything can be good depending on how you build it...hell an Aztec..well nevermind probably not and Aztec but you get the point.

Congrats man on an awesome stuck and one hell of a story, not many people can brag that a loader could not get them out...pretty darn sweet.

I agree 100%, the explorer is a good vehicle, but has more weak points than about any 4x4 I know of. Personally I think that's one sweet looking jeep, and it has V-8 power too.

blah blah blah, extra long quote but shortened it... I figured the bumper looked of decent strength, but the issues came at the mounts... Who cares? Ya had fun, learned stuff, broke stuff, that's how the game goes, and I'm sure i woulda run into the hole as well!
Welcome aboard!

haha i just read all of your threads. and there was no fords involved i assure you.

NOW we know why he was stuck for so long 3 jeeps, hmm I don't know ..... maybe one ford exp 1st generation:D

Back in my 4x4 and dirt biking days. we had a one guy get stuck in the deep pines of NJ. He had to hire one of those freght helicopters to lift him out. Don't remember how much, but I know it cost him a fortune.

mbender,
I've been close to that bad, not that much mud inside but close. Thanks for stopping by our site.
Would ya'll believe I made a color photo on the front of a newspaper in Rochester, Minn after teetering with only mud keeping my rig from rolling over. It's all fun with the sport and am not embarrassed to get stuck in it. It's all fun and you can deal with the results.

My only attempt would be to drag it out in reverse. I've been to the point where a truck on 2.5 ton axles was just pulling me further and further into the mud. Finally it came out fairly easy in reverse because there was less mud piling up just some nasty digging to get the tow strap hooked up.

hey fellas , yes of course i understand. like i said, i know most of you guys are cool.

haha yea , my uncle has a ford super duty lariat with the cummins turbo diesel. i sure as hell wish i had that thing and a 12 thousand lb winch.

ha i just pulled the ac blower motor out. should have never cleaned the carpets. haha you should have seen the mud.

just means i need to trim the fenders and get bigger meats. uh, right after i get an 8.8 in the rear.

Hey, couldn't you just remove the tires and install tracks?

Must be a special mod :p Super duties come with Power Stroke diesels, dodge's have cummins turbo diesels! unles it's some old truck i don't remember :)

Feel free to hang around here! ya might find some more wheelers to go get stuck with, if i was closer i would:)

Wow, bender, this mishap of yours might just turn into the Jeep version of the "herculined hootus" debacle. ;)

Didn't you know, Ford owns Cummings (sic)... ;)

mbender, Sorry I called you an idiot, I was way out of line with that one! As you pointed out, it didn't look that bad before you got stuck in there. Just, from looking at the after pics, that hole looks like a small, deep lake IMO, and I wouldn't have gone for it. Call me a weiney!;)

And no, I am not a Jeep hater! In fact, I got a Jeep YJ axle in the front of my X, so I can't hate them that bad.:p I also am a member of a couple of Jeep sites to help with info about my D30.
