Nope. You need a 4406 from a 1997 and up F150. It's basically a bolt in. Many members here have done it.

Hmm, an 88 should have a BW case not an NP IIRC.. anyways, it could be used if you also used an older transmission behind your 5.0 and did a little bit of drive line work such as yolk changing and such.. FWIW....
