Hi everyone - new here, just purchased an 08 xlt v6. Already found some helpful advice here and looking forward to trying to help others out.
My problem:
Trans was rebuilt, then it started exhibited symptoms of the neutral safety switch needing to be replaced (wouldn't start in park, but it would in neutral. now it won't start at all most times - starts in neutral maybe 1/10 times). When I tried to remove it, the center retaining nut is stuck. Two questions:
1) when I was trying to turn it, the position lever went all the way to the left, and now it is detecting gears even more poorly. Is it possible to damage internal parts if you turn that two far (I had a block of wood in to keep the lever from moving as I was trying to turn the nut, and the wood slipped out). Or is the sensor just working more poorly?
2) Any tricks/thoughts on how to get the nut off? Been hitting it with penetrating oil everyday but it still isn't budging.
Any advice is appreciated.
