I got my new custom ordered shocks, and i tried installing them yesterday.

However, i had the first shock darn near installed. One of the bottom bolts i cranked on really tight. I kept tightening it and then all of the sudden it became easy to turn it and i could just keep turning the nut wihtout even moving the bolt or tightening it. Im thinking i tightened it past the threadding, or somehow it got stripped. Now when i try to loosen the nut off, the nut turns, but it doesnt move down the bolt or come off at all, and the head of the bolt doesnt even move. How do i get this thing off? this bolt goes through a hole in my suspension arm, and i need to get it out, so i can get this stupid (and way to short) defective shock out, to install the correct ones they are rush sending me tomorrow.

Also, is it possible to drive without a front shock. I just need to get it to a shop. they are sending me my new front schock tomorrow, and then i w/ill have the shop do the rest of the installing, as im so frusterated from this endaveor that i dont ever want to see another shock again in my life.

I don't know what to say about getting the nut off the bolt, except to cut it off.

Yes, you can drive without a shock. The ride will just be a bit more bouncy.

theres not reallya good place to cut it because its on there really tight. any other ideas?

wait, could i try to cut the nut in half or something? what should i use to cut it?

I'd use a grinder with a cutting wheel and either cut the bolt head off or the nut off. Just like taking rivets out. At this point niether the bolt nor the nut are worth anything, so just whatever it takes to get them out.

i dont have a grinder nor a cutting wheel. This bolt is only 3/8" thick, and cost like 10 cents, so i could really care less about it, i just need it off. i have a drill, and a couple hand saws, and a hack saw. would any of those work?

Hack saw might work.

FYI, a decent Black and Decker grinder is only about $30.

the hack saw istn working well cuz its in a bad spot. I htink im just goint to put the wheel back on adn drive it to the shop, and have my guy take care of getting that bolt out, then installing the new shocks. Im sure he will have a grinder or even something better to get it out.
