2000 Explorer XLT
Happened yesterday on the beach, in 4x4. Continued on the way home in 2 wd. Bought 95 XLT on 6/1. Has always had code 332, have done recommended tests, don't have break out box.
Had a local guy do plugs and wires about 4 hours driving time before o/d light flashed. Truck seemed to shift normally. Tranny was back flushed, and new filter in early June, when I bought truck.
Pulled a code 645, (oh, goody!!), this AM, (Auto x-ray 2000).
The 332 code has had me chasing to the point I began to entertain a pcm problem, as the egr system seems to check out.....
My plan: Chase down all wiring especially looking at exhaust manifolds, as plug wire change may have displaced trans sensor wires onto manifold. After that, I'll disconnect battery, and see if It still throws a code.

Pray for me..........:)
I wish I could test the pcm. Truck runs great.

Almost forgot..... 302424 miles...........:salute:

Well, checked wiring, and o/d switch. After resetting pcm computer, put about 25 miles on it, no shift problems, (never was, other than unable to switch OUT of od, but could feel it trying to when I pushed button).
Fluid looks good, (All fluids changed in early June), and the light no longer is flashing.

I Hate it when that happens...............:(

O/D Flashing - it's a Trans solenoid

Just had my 2002 Explorer checked. Was the solenoid in the transmission. Hard to find. Mechanic had to go out of state to find one. Get price first BEFORE having him look at. A hi-tech repair shop should be able to do the work in addition to transmission shops.

1998 Explorer V8 5.0L XLT AWD possible daughters future car depending on outcome of this. flashing O/D light, AAMCO free tranny read gave code P0782, described as "2-3 shift". Search turned up no sticky's. If this isn't fixable in my garage considering selling vehicle at extreme discount. Any links exist to help where I could at least try this at home?

Flashing OD is Solinoid problem

Sorry, should have mentioned in my earlier posting that the flashing OD was due to a bad solenoid in the transmission. I lived with the flashing OD for arout 2 years but when gear shifting got rough I decided to take it in.

I am unable to give you any advice for the FYI part. Shop for the solenoid part first, then check prices at both tranny shops and high tech repair shops. You might be able to save money if you walk in with the part in hand.

Hope this helps.

That might help

Funny thing is mine did this too but I didnt feel anything wrong. But its stopped doing it now? :dunno:

I gave the solenoid some more thought this morning. The solenoid affects the gear shifting and wondering now if the flashing OD is a secondary symptom (byproduct). In any event, the flashing OD did go away.

Unfortunately, it's expensive.
