After running my x for a while or doing some light trail riding my od light would start blinking and give me lots of hesitation on the shifting. This was june and my procrastinating self just put off taking it in. The light would only come on when the truck had run for a while and especially when it was real hot outside.

Well the shifting has gotten worse and it doesn't take as long for it to start blinking and giving me problems. Sometime it works perfect sometimes horrible.

I noticed that at highway speeds my rpms would shift from about 1800 to 2200 and then back. Up and down over and over. I took it to aamco where I have my warranty they said they'll check it out thursday and should be a soleniod (sp?). What do you guys think?

I don't trust aamco. sorry for the lengthy thread. Thanks for replying.

Have you checked the fluid level and condition?

It's most likely either your TC wearing out, OD band wearing out, or TPS going bad.

torque converter is brand new, replace with tranny last December. Fluid level is good and fluid looks clean, I didn't drop the pan though.

Thanks for the help

let me give this thread a little bump to see if I can find someone with this problem. Engine sounds good, hesitation and some thumping on shifting and then sometimes no go at all when stopped and pressing the gas.

AAMCO says they can't figure out what the problem is. Their machines don't show anything. I told them to check the tps and hopefully they will. I think part of them not knowing the problem is not wanting to fix the problem.

couple questions:

1. Is the tps technically part of the tranny? (I'm under warranty and I know they'll try to rip me off)

2. Are the torque converter, tps, and internals messing up really the only things that may cause this?

3. Does this sound like bad O2 sensors?

Thanks for any and all help!

The TPS is used in shift shift control but is really more of the engine control system.

I'm not a tranny expert by any means but I'd guess your trans problem is internal to the tranny. You could monitor various pids (throttle position, shft solenoids, transmisssion range sensor, etc) and see what is going on when the tranny acts up.

It doesn't sound like O2s to me.

See what codes you are getting when the o/d light come on.

Nic....chek you TPS...Had the exact same prob and change the TPS..since then A1 ! easy to do and not too expensive approx 50$can so may be less in the US.

GOOD LUCK
