My 02 XLT has 146K and my daily commute is 54 miles one way! OK, enough whining
Here is my "new" riddle. In that 54 miles I go from 1500ft to 4100ft then back down to 2800ft. At about mile 22 (3500ft) the dang O/D off light starts an erratic flicker, I pull over turn off the truck then start it with no light. Once the light went off less than a mile up the hill on its own. On the way back no light, around town no light, going east up over a 5200ft pass no light:scratch:
So I only get the warning light going south within three curves of one road. Engine run time, mileage to the spot, time of day and temperature do not seem to matter. Also the light clears, so can a shop still read a code?
I will add the transmission shifts smoothly and the tranny fluids get changed about every 40k. I changed out the 4WD control module 2 weeks ago but the light went on once before that. The truck runs fine, if the light didn't come on I wouldn't suspect any problem
