For the first time since I've owned my Exp, I plan on doing some high mileage towing.. up till now it's been toting a 1600 lb boat to and from the boat landing, that's about it. I'm moving in May (about 360 miles), and plan about 3 trips fully loaded + a snowmobile trailer with furniture.. I'm guessing the trailer probably won't top 1000 lbs loaded, wondering if this is ample cause to disengage the O/D or not. A history of trans problems in the past have left me wondering. Advice anybody? Thanks!!

BTW, 4.0 OHV, 4-spd auto, 3.73 rear. 137K miles.

Yes, turn off the O/D when towing as soon as it feels like you are bogging the engine or the tranny is shifting alot.

Only run the OD on flat ground above 55mph. Any inclines or sections below 55mph disengage tht OD.
