I recently had my O2 sensor, Bank2 sensor1, changed out. About 1 day later
a small rattling noise turned bigger over tne next 3 days. I took the
Explorer back to the mechanic and he said I needed a new catalytic converter. I went to a muffler shop and had a OME Cat installed for $700.
My question is, could changing the O2 sensor give me a problem with the
converter, as if it is possible, I am considering a small claims action???
The O2 sensor install cost $400 plus the $47 diagnostic and the $700 cat
install. The mechanic said that after the service engine soon light came on
that I should have brought it to the shop immediately but it was on the weekend that it happened and I was 30 miles from home. Honestly, is he
right or is he trying to deflect blame from his o2 senson install??
Thank You, Gerald
PS: if the mechanic is correct, let my $1147.00 lesson keep you on the
ball when you see the service engine soon light!!
