OBD2/computer chips

I just want to find a plug to fit into the OBD2 outlet under the dash so I can plug in my computer chip.

I have added a Bull Bar and hood scoop and some butterfly decals (for my wife) and changed the stock wheels for Mustang GT wheels and added Ford logo rubber floor mats front and rear, also removed the stock mufflers and put a stainless high flow on. I am running 235/65R18's but plan to upgrade to 245/60R18's soon. Also have the parts to make a cold air intake (could not find a kit) which I will install soon.

I have a Volo chip I want to add but I do not want to splice it into the system like they say to. I installed a Volo performance chip in my 99 F250LD, I bought an extension cord for the OBD reader and spliced it onto the end of the wires from the chip so I can plug it in when I want it and pull it out when I don't want it. I want to do the same to my Explorer except I am installing a gas mileage chip. I bought an OBD extension cord and spliced it to the chip but it does not fit the plug under the dash so I am looking for pictures of the plug in my Explorer to see what it is supposd to be, and a source of plugs I can splice to the chip that will fit.

obdII is a standard so all the plugs are the same... I dont understand why the pigtail on the cable you bought would not fit, did you splice the wrong side?

You are using the OBD port just in front of the brake release mechanism and not the brake controller connector that is in that general area over to the right of it, correct? It's either this or what MotorCityFats13 said and when I go to use mine it requires a good amount of force before the female connector seats in and the same goes for removing it.

I leave my BT dongle in it all the time... And it sucks where they chose to place it because it renders the parking brake release blocked and gravity makes it fall out from time to time when driving on rough terrain

The plug I have on the chip is the right one I think. Maybe I am just not pushing hard enuff, will try again.

The plug I am trying to use is just above the brake release and the cable end I bought does not match but I have another OBD cable and the end on it looks right...will try that.

I finally got a real good look at the plug under the dash by the brake release...it looks just like but is only half the size of the OBD plugs I have so nothing fits. It looks like I am going to have to splice the chip into my system instead of plugging it in.

Take a picture of both and post it. All of the OBD II stuff is a standard size so unless it is not the OBD port then any OBD II female end will fit it. It is a standard 16 pin male OBD II connector under the dash that you are trying to connect to right, and you are not trying to use a 15 pin computer data connector to directly interface with it right?

The plug I am looking at is right above the emergency brake release handle.
I don't see another plug near there. From what you are telling me the plug I am looking at is the computer data plug so I have no idea where the OBD plug is.

The only way for me to be able to tell you exactly what is going on at your OBD port is for you to take a picture of it and a picture of the connector that you are trying to use and posting a link to them so I can see exactly what they look like.

Upddate.....I bought an 04 Eddie Bauer Explorer 4.6L V8 and am saving the gas-mileage-chip for it. Plan to strip the 07 and use the extras from it to fix up the 04 then will sell the 07. When I finally get the chip installed I will update the post again hopefully with photos.
