I have a 2000 Ford Explorer XLT and i know you can get a lot more horse power out of the 5.0 V8 has anyone put a chip in and which one is the best.

I highly recommend any SCT dealer and in doing so I suggest either of this forums sponsors. Me at www.BamaChips.com or the other site sponsor Hyp3automotive.

The best way to find out what either of us can do for you is to send us an email from our sites. I can tell you this, on my tuning products for the 5 liter I can adjust your timing and fuel curves to help take advantage of the 5.0's broad torque range along with adjusting transmission parameters to help the shifting. I can raise or remove both the speed and rev limiters like anyone.

A chip or better yet a Flasher is a definate good thing to have, however, they work best after you improve the intake and exhaust.

I prefer products from SCT.

I already have duel flowmasters for the exaust so how much HP do you think i will gain with a chip and air intake

Don't get too hung up on the HP#. Most claims you'll see out there are grossly overstated. You opened up your exhaust, now open up the "other end" with an intake. Those two mods go hand in hand. The chip/flasher ties them together nicely. I have all three mods, and my chip is out for reprogramming right now. While my Ex still feels great, being without the chip is very noticeable. As the others have said, get a SCT based chip/flasher and get Doug and/or Wayne to write a custom tune for you based on your mods and planned mods, driving style etc.

You won't regret it. There are hundreds of discussion threads on this very topic. Check the archives using the SEARCH function on the site to see what I mean.

I have the 5.0 with a two program flasher (see sig). Its great! But like stated prior, get an intake first then a chip/flasher. You will love it.

Both Wayne and Doug are great programmers.
