Occasional "lurch" at highway speed

I drove mine yesterday for the first time in 2 weeks .My wife had it while I was working on her Escort, The problem still there. I'm running errends in the morning and I think I'll stop by the dealer and pick the service guys brain. One was really helpful when I had an alingment done on the wifes car. For now Im thinking fuel pump or O2 senser

I made it to the dealer today to get an estimate on some car wash damage. Explained the problem to the service manager.He shook his head and said I need a $200 injecter cleaning.

Run away. FAST!! Injector cleaning.... riiiiight.... Was he able to explain exactly how dirty injectors cause a lurch? I'd love to hear that explanation....

uh,... this is not an injector problem. injectors dont make the front end feel like its going to fall out

Just a thought but has anyone replaceed there coil while having this problem? It reminds me of what my escort was doing last year

seems im talking to myself here, but i put another transfer case out of another wrecked explorer from my buddy ,that wasnt having this problem and wah-la...it doesnt do it anymore...
my advice...if yours does this buy a new transfer case. im figuring its something inthe clutch setup assembly that is bad,but since this one fixed it, im not about to tear into the old one to even care what actually causes this. but it definately straghtend it out

2 days now, but the old one was getting so bad that it would do itabout every 20 seconds. sometimes faster.im hoping this has fixed it. time will tell

.I think I finally got mine fixed. It turned out to be a simple bad plug wire. I was discussing the problem with one of the other engineers I work with. It turns out his last job was with Lotus in the UK.His diagnosis after listening to my explanation was that it sounded like the miss was at low RPM no matter what the speed, and it sounded like a bad spark was jumping as he said. That night I replaced the 6 month old wires and 2 months later it still running good

What brand were the old cables? Which brand did you replace them with? Did you pull out the spark plugs to clean them, and check the gap?

8450 - any updates on if the T-case swap solved the issue? My dad's '00 4x4 is having the same exact issue - just started up last weekend. First occured on dead-flat dry pavement on the highway with the cruise on (60 mph). No RPM blips, CEL, OD light, nothing - just a big kick like you hit a speed bump with the rear wheels.

My thoughts are that it's definitely driveline related - even a dramatic engine misfire wouldn't jarr the truck the way this did. Intermittent as well - happens some days, doesn't on others.

yes it is still fixed. transfer is the problem...not a problem since,not even once

My 11 with only 88k kms (55k miles) just started doing this.
Did anyone ever solve this? Mine is only a 2 wheel drive which means it isnt the transfer case, yes?
ive noticed it is only in the cold, below 32 f or 0 c, and it is more likely on snowy roads. im thinking its electronic and it might help if i pull my abs/tcs fuse, has anyone ever tried that?
