The owner's manual for my 2007 XLT, 4.0 4x4 indicates there is an OD off switch on the transmission gear shift selector. Mine has a place for the switch - but no switch. Could it have been removed or never equipped? My trans code is V

My prior Focus, current '98 Expedition and current '00 Explorer all have a similar switch which turns the OD off and on.

I have a picture of my 07 gear selector - below

Anyone have a similar set up or the the answer?

Maybe you only lost the chrome cap of the button.

Same thing happened to mine, the button came out. If you need to turn OD off you can use the tip of a ball point pen in the center hole. New switch is about $12. I just took the button out of the new switch and installed that.

Does the switch cap just snap on or do I have to replace the entire switch?

My local Ford dealer has one in stock for $20....

Thanks!

Got an extra?

The OD does work by pushing in on the switch as suggested with a pen.

Guess I just need the cover... Anyone have an extra laying around ??

If not I guess I have to by the whole switch assembly - seems silly for a 50 cent part :banghead:

You need to buy the whole switch but you can remove the button and just replace that piece.
