A few months ago I started hearing a strange noise while I was driving. It sounds like an electric motor revving with my engine. Never thought much of it because there were no apparent problems, at 208,000 miles I expect strange noises.
Well since we have been getting all this damn snow and I've had to use my 4x4 I have noticed some problems. Once the 4x4 system is engaged it will not disengage very easily. Sometimes it stays engaged for days, I can push the Auto 4x4 button over and over and it does nothing.
I am wondering if the noise I have been hearing is the Transfer Case Motor? I figured out yesterday the noise is coming from around the transmission area. My cousin told me that it acts like a solenoid and may be stuck engaged.
Does any of this sound like it could be whats going on?
