There is a odd clicking nose when I turn in my front driver side hub. It could be on the passanger side also but im really not sure. I heard that it could be the cv joint but im not sure. anyone have any ideas?

If you have automatic locking hubs, chances are its the hub itself. Mine would sometime fail to release fully and would make a "ratcheting" sound. I've also had the hub try to lock spontaneously. Sometimes cleaning out excess grease from the hub will help. Do a search on automatic hubs and you will find lots of information.

There are no CV joints on the first generation Explorer, only universal joints at the wheel ends of the front drive axles.

Sometimes....wheel bearings.

Thanks. I just replaced the wheel bearings and the clunk still happens. It happends when i crank a trun at low speeds than straighten out or turn the opposite way. ny ideas

its probably your hubs..do as suggested, clean the grease out..then for lubrication fill them with ATF and let sit for a few hours, then pour it out and reinstall the hub
