I got a 2001 Sport, and ever since I bought it 3 years ago, this weird squeaking noise would come out the back.....no earthly clue what it is.....sounds like metal on metal and I hear it whenever I hit a bump or when ever the vehicle leans for a turn. Its freaking annoying, does anyone know what could possible be the problem, I changed the shocks and that wasnt it.....leafsprings are fine, seems to be closer to being near the body and the frame around the back. I dont know what to do, I was thinking about removing the entire spare tire assembly to see if that is the issue or trying to take off the bumper

Had the same thing on my 02 sport. But mine didnt sound like metal on metal, it was just a squeak. Covered the leaf springs with some WD-40 and problem resolved :) you could try that lol

try the sway bar bushings as well

yea, but here's the deal guys, the noise goes away when there is weight in the back, such as pulling a trailer or when someone stands on the rear bumper on the driver side, but the noise doesnt seem to be coming from the bumper

as stated... i would check the leaf springs. since i started stressing mine, big tires shackles etc, I've developed a squeak, the Kevlar plates between the leaves may have worn out.

Kevlar between the leaf springs seems fine.....but the noise seems to be much higher up, like I initially thought that it was the spare tire assembly, so i removed the spare tire, had my bro rock the truck and the noise changed location when laying under the truck, i dont know whats going on........I recently changed the rear body bushings too hoping that would solve it and it didnt
