Here's a strange one. The "4wd" indicator light on the dash only works if the headlights are not on. If the lights are on, the indicator goes out. Maybe related to the non-dimming compass and non-lighting radio buttons?

This is in a '96 Sport.

how about your speed control (cruise control indication).... does it also go out in the same fashion? If so, it is likely your headlight switch .... at least from my 96 "reference" which shows that they are both fed thru the switch.

Yep, speed control indicator as well. Guess it's the switch. Thanks.

although it is obvious (I didn't trace everything thru), your radio not dimming and such could be related or maybe another problem.... the switch stuff is "monitored" by things and then the "dimming" function is done if the switch is on.... however, if the monitor can't "detect" that, then of course no dimming is done so you might get lucky.
