Ok, i have a 02 XLT4dr 4x4 4.0 automatic.

Recently i have been getting a horrible noise coming from the rear of the truck, its a squeaking noise, awefully shrilly, loud enough for cars passing to notice, then when I slow down its like a grinding noise. Its hard for me to tell which side of the vehicle its coming from. Its very annoying and unfortunately, if anything major is wrong, im sure expensive to fix. Anybody else experience anything like this? Please give some insight. Thanks

Sounds like your rear wheel bearing is dying. I just had to replace my passanger side one, and It cost me $700 at the dealership.

It is the wheel bearing on the pass side.... #@!@$$%@... I had a mechanic take a look at it, toast... From what i've found, this is the part number:

3L2Z-1215-AA
for the replacement assembly. Dunno how true it is, but the websites i've found say it retails for $90-100ish... but who knows how much that might change between here and the dealership, if you know what I mean.

I just had the tires balanced and rotated and told them of a low roaring noise and when they balanced them they couldnt get the pass rear to balance. They said it was bad (belt or whatever), so I assumed that was the roaring noise. Guess not. Anybody know what all is involved in the replacement of the rear bearings. Thanks.
