Hey guys! I have been enjoying my trouble-free stereo setup for about 6 months then suddenly, odd behavior started:

Sometimes, when I start the car, the music seems to only come from the back. When I turn up the volume, the front speakers kick in. I have even seen cases where the the right front speaker appears to be playing while the left one needs a volume boost to get started. This seems to happen only when the music is at low volume.

My setup is pretty simple, Alpine IVA-W200 and 4 Infinity Kappa speakers. Any ideas?

Thanks.

The only time I've seen this, a speaker was "partially" blown, meaning the VC would short until a certain excursion was reached. It could be the case with your left one. Swap the sides with either the speakers, or the wiring. If it continues to be the same speaker, it's your Infinity's. If it switches with the wiring, it's the head unit. I'm more inclined to think it is the speakers, though.

I'll try that. Thanks!

Let us know how it goes, and we'll proceed from there. Maybe you'll get lucky and it's just a loose wire.

Does your system have a amp in it? I've seen things like this from a loose wire connection at the amp.

No amp, but can still be a loose wire. I haven't had a chance to pull off the door panels off yet. Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow.

Thanks.

Update!

My problem is that the music only comes through the subwoofer until I turn up the volume, then the 4 door speakers kick in. This only happens when the volume is set to a low level, around 4. If I turn it up to 10, the door speakers kick in and I can then turn the volume back down to 4 and the door speakers will stay on. This problem is sporadic, seems to be based on what song happens to be playing. It happens about half the time I start the car with the radio volume low. Has anyone seen a problem like this before?

Thanks in advance.
