Hola all from the Dominican Republic.

I have a 2010 XLT V6/2WD, approx. 110k miles, 2 owner.

I don't know the complete history, but it has a Jasper transmission, not the original OEM. Obviously, it has a questionable past.

I had some transmission issues several months ago and had an "experienced" local guy do a "rebuild." We don't have real mechanics here except in the big cities, but usually local guys do a credible job. Supposedly a lot of new parts and electronics were used.

The transmission was much better except for two things:

1) When cold, it shifts into gear harshly. When warm, it is fine. The fluid is full. A new TC was installed.

2) The truck won't downshift into 2nd manually, like when going down a steep incline. I have to really slow down, manually shift into 1st, upshift into 2nd, then it goes into 2nd fine.

The guy who did the "rebuild" is AWOL, supposedly very sick, and nobody can get in touch with him again.

I'd like some sage input before I take it somewhere else.

Can anyone make a suggestion as to what the problem(s) might be?

sricky/stuck EPC solenoid maybe could cause the #1 until it warms up possibly. the non manual downshift sounds like a solenoid thing possibly.

Is the OD light flashing?
