NOS OEM Parts getting hard to find
NOS OEM parts are becoming scarse for early model Explorers. Recently I have been trying to freshen my '92 Sport up and have had a heck of a time finding the parts I need. Luckily, my father owns a collision repair business and is able to locate parts, but not without a search. I was fortunate enough to find the fabric to recover the bottom bun of my drivers seat, and believe I may have found the last grey "houndstooth" fabric to do so. I also was able to find a patch panel to repair the rust begining on the passenger side before the rear wheel well up to the seam in the door jamb, and believe I also found the last one of these panels also. For the drivers side I had to order the full quarter panel to repair the rust in the same spot as the passenger side. Although I won't use the full quarter, I was lucky to find this piece also, it was the last one in the midwest. I just wanted to let everyone with early Explorers know that if you need parts you may want to start looking soon, many of the part numbers are becoming obsolete and the your only hope is that some dealership, somewhere, has one laying around in their stock room and is wiiling to give it up. Good Luck!
