OEM? Rear Spoilers?

Bones sells two types for the X, one with a more rounded edge and a deeper conture for the middle light, then theres is the one with the pointy edge like yours.

It looks great on your truck! I like the way it fits.
I hope to buy one sometime soon.

Thanks for the replies everyone!
The deflector itself is built really strong. It is pretty thick material, does not flex, and really appears unbreakable...very nice. I know Bones (and others) sell similar deflectors that are made of the thin, smoked plastic...or similar. I did not want a Windjammer type, and this one is quite different.
The kit includes a template that you tape to the top...lines up perfectly with the X outline...then you drill the mounting holes. Almost foolproof! The deflector has 3 mounting pads, so it is very secure up there!

X-factor- good question. After mounting it I got scared when I thought about hatch opening clearance. Not to worry though, it opens clean...the part is OEM Ford, so I guess they took everything into account. Whew!!!

jssong- Great idea. I thought about that too! I don't use the roof rack, and would love to get rid of it. Heck, that crappy Ford paint on the rails just keeps peeling off anyway. I don't know how easy it would be to remove the rails though...leave holes etc.? I don't really notice the rails that much just looking at the X.......but they do seem to show up more in the quick pictures I took. It's a good thought though, and I will investigate!
Still, for $50-70 bucks, I think it is a good deal (even if not a Saleen wing :( )
Thanks everyone. Now I've got to get out there and install my EE rear swaybar that's sitting in the garage!!!

Ken!
I also have the sway bar to install, that is just sitting around. Can you tell me if you have to jack the truck up to install. I cant seem to find the instructions.
Thanks.

Hey Bottomlesspit, I also have the OEM Wing and have the cross bars off... I think it looks good.. I did leave the rails there just incase the wife needs me to pick something big up... Just uploaded the rear wig pics... Take a look...

Yep, I think that's the only option that we all have if we still plan on using the roof rack. It would be nice to just drill those rivets off and smooth the roof off with fiberglass.

Garth- I looked at the EE instructions for the sway bars........you are not missing much!!! All it really says is to remove the old sway bar and install the new one! Just looking at mine...you might get away without lifting the X up? Not positive though. I've been waiting because I need to install my Bilstein shocks at the same time...so I will have to lift the rear. The front is already done. I guess we need to get off our rears and get these projects done huh? ;)

jdbadcat- I checked your pictures out. Looks good. I sure like some of your mods! If I had a 5.0 (like in my old mustang) I would do a lot to the engine too. I like my 4.0 grocery getter engine, but miss installing the race stuff on the 5.0.
jd and x-factor- I pulled the crossbars off mine this morning and drove it all day. Everytime I looked at the X it just looked naked to me!!??!!?? I guess I could get used to the look, but it just looked so long and ...well...naked! My rails are held in place with 5 screws each...no rivits. I thought about removing the rails and trying some of those push-in trim buttons, like in the interior, to fill the holes. At least the holes would be filled and the pins would be flush with the roof. I figured some silicon sealant would do the trick. I have not got that industrious yet though! I'll have to give the whole roof rack thing some more thought first.
Anyway, thanks again for the replies...
Ken

I am wanting to get a deflector soon as well, but I can't seem to find that one at Bones Enterprises. I found one that will fit a Sport Trac. They say that it may fit other models, but I am overseas on active duty, and it is difficult for me to contact a dealer right now. Does anyone know if this spoiler will fit a 2001 Sport?

Imitation XP8 Wings? Hell yes!

Looks great, Bottomlesspit, does it help keep the crap off the back window? we do alot of search (K-9) training in Warton state forest and the dust on the back window is unbelievable, just wondered which was the best for keepin the window somewhat clear.
tnx,
Sandy
