My rangers got the 2.5l lima, which is so hard to find near me. I checked on car part.com and all i can find closest is 200+ miles away :(.

The trucks a 2000 ranger with the awesome 2.5l. My question is, can install an older 2.3 lima from like an old stang or ranger? I got an m50dr1 tranny.

I can also find a lot of 3.0 v6's here too. Now, If I choose to go the 2.3 route from like an early 90s mustang, what other parts do I need? Thanks.

and pls dont suggest the 4.0 cause i dont have enough money for a new trans and clutch too lol

Or can I get a short block 2.3l from a 94+ ranger and throw on my 2.5 head?

did you do a through forum/google serach? the answers are out there

Please try to do you own homework first, and search for the answers. It really is unfair to ask others to look it up for you.

I agree with the above.

That said, why do you need a new engine? If all you need is a long block, for example, due to catastrophic mechanical damage, Craigslist or local junkyards are your friend. It may even be worth picking up a sub-$1000 truck with a good motor, just for the motor, and part out or scrap the rest.

Engine conversions are very involved and not for everyone. It's possible but it's a lot of work and definitely not the cheap way to go. Once you put all that work into it, you might wish you'd just gone 4.0 or even 5.0. And in many cases it's just cheaper to start with another Ranger.

the 2.5 is basically a stroked 2.3L if you can find a 2.3L it should be a bolt in, just be aware of the water pump outlet, use the 2.3 style if you can. the plastic 2.5L outlet is a problem looking for a place to happen. ask around at your local yards, the 2.5L (and the 2.3L) were both really well built engines, once ford went to the roller cam those engines last indefinately. try craigslist, you should be able to score a complete running truck that has been wrecked for under a grand.

Checking on car-part.com with your zip code and sorting by distance the closet engine is 46 miles away in Newtown, Pa. They show 15,668 miles on it, 'A' condition and the vehicle stock# is 060082. They show a price of $450

Hope this helps.
