OHV or SOHV?

OHV or SOHC?

This is probably a stupid question...

How do I know if i have the 4.0L SOHV or the 4.0L OHV?

When I bought my explorer used it didnt come with a manual.

I have a 98 Explorer Sport.

SOHC or OHV..........

Pop the hood and look at what it says on top........EFI (OHV) or SOHC.

SOHC

its SOHC not SOHV

and look on the motor there should be a cover taht will either say OHV or SOHC

I was hopin to pop the hood and see SOHC...but it was OHV

can you tell me where you are looking? mine only says 4.0 efi on the top of the intake. and it's black. (my other explorer had the unpainted intake.)

EFI = OHV

It was the only engine available in '95.

Yeah see above, if the cover says EFI... it's an OHV

mine is on the engine on the drivers side below the spark plugs in the middle
