The protection plan is interesting. Being my truck only has 66,000 miles on it, I could very well start having it serviced with their products and have my engine (the death rattle) protected/covered under their plan.

I've been using Lucas Oil treatment and can hear a differance in the way my engine sounds with that stuff in the crank case. No slight rattle at start up anymore.

Might be worth it to give one of their reps a call, see what is truly involved in following their program to have my engine covered.

It might be snake oil, but it they stand behind their product, hey it's totally worth it!

If there were ever a company's product I would use for this type of stuff, it's BG. They make some amazing products...particularly their 44K. But honestly...if you use a good quality oil, there isn't much else you can add to help. I wouldn't add a thing.

B&g 44k

Of course the service tech recommends it, they get probably at least a 50% markup and he gets a cut.
Just use a good quality motor oil and don't worry about it.

There is simply no need for ANY additional oil additive when using high quality motor oil.

I don't think this plan is that great. How much do these BG services cost? How often are they done?

Notice how "chain tensioners" are "accidentally" left out of specific covered engine parts. Seems like if the chain or gear isn't broken, you are out of luck. I could see them tearing the engine down, seeing the broken tensioner and telling you too bad. The engine stuff they cover rarely breaks if you do any kind of maintenance. They also don't cover engine springs or valve seals either. If their stuff is so great it should condition seals and make them last forever, no?

they ask for fluid samples, I wonder if someone has a bad headgasket and the coolant washes out the bearings I wonder if that damage would be covered.

This makes great reading and covers this topic in depth also many items that we all would like to know more about! I at least enjoyed it a lot and believe in what this chap says.

44K is a fuel system and injector cleaner. Just add a can once a year to your fuel tank. It is the best stuff I've ever seen for this. Simple and very effective. Many times you will get a seat of the pants improvement. It really can clean up dirty injector spray patterns.

Best place to research all additives is Bobstheoillguy.com.

Lucas is amazing, of all the additives I've come across over the years, this stuff is the best. It really does make a difference.
