Well, I changed my oil earlier and I don't think I was able to get all of the old oil out before adding the 5 new quarts. Now, my question is will I be in trouble by having extra oil, or is not a big deal?

I'm also concerned because of the cold weather in the Northeast, and I've got a 12 hour drive coming up in a couple of days, so I don't want anything unexpected on the drive ;)

Thanks guys!

why don't you think you got all of the old oil out?

but anyway, did you check the dipstick after you added the oil?

if it isn't over the Max Fill line you should be fine, other wise i would drain some out,

when i drain my oil i usually don't put the drain plug back in until the oil goes from a slow steady run to slow dripping

the drive should be fine

The engine didn't get enough of a chance to warm up, and the cold weather really didn't help.

The dipstick is above the "fill" line, so I guess I'll just try draining some out tomorrow and bringing it down to the proper level.

Thanks

i would just let the engine fully warm up and change it again the filter should be fine a flush wouldent hurt:D but if it is only a little over dont worry about it

how much? if its only very little above or below you will be fine.... if its alot, over you might blow seals.... too little will seize the engine....

I got the Fumoto valve a long time ago, I must say it helps a lot.

I think it might be too much over, because it was over by a lot. I'll fix it tomorrow though so it shouldn't be too big a deal.

If I did a little in-town driving today with too much oil, will that cause any problems in the long run?
