oil dipstick tube

hello everyone

my dipstick tube has rusted out, its at same level as the exhaust manifold, so i belive about 4inches or so is missing, anyone have any tips on how i can fix this other than getting a new tube at the dealer? i was quoted 80cdn for a tube.. also in order for me to plug the tube i shove the dipstick until it is closed, would that do any damage in my engine????

I wouldn't stick the dipstick in the far. Just use something else to plug it. Check with Junkyards for a replacment.
