On my 94 XLT, I'll be driving along like normal and my oil gauge will be reading in the Normal area, but on the low side. If I tap the accelerator a bit, it will jump up to the high side of Normal. This doesn't happen all the time, but I've been disregarding it for long enough. No matter where the needle is, it is always in the Normal range, but it fluctuates and is seldom consistent, whether the engine is cold or I've been driving for 3 hours.
Would this be an indication of oil pump problems, low oil, bad gauge, or bad wire? I haven't had any problems with performance since my tune-up and K&N air filter installation. Everything is in working order and I check my fluids regularly so this may be just a glitch in the Matrix for all I know. Thanks!

From what I understand (could be different on '94's), it's not a "real" pressure gauge. Mine has a scale like one, but there's only 3 settings the needle will point to: low, middle, or high. There's no variation on mine - so if your's is the same and is just and "low/high" type switch as opposed to a real gauge that reads pressure (most engines the pressure is a bit lower at idle, then goes to normal when on the gas), then I'd say the gauge is messed up.
