Hello,

My oil pressure gauge hasn't worked for quite a while now. I had the sensor replaced some time ago, but that didn't fix the problem. My mechanic said that there is likely a wiring issue between the sensor and the ****pit. He has a wiring guy that can probably run it down, but that will probably involve removal of the dash and I don't know how much that will cost.

I have run with it like this for a while, but I am a bit uneasy not having a pressure gauge. I know that the Ford gauges are not that reliable, so I am wondering if there is some other options. Can I add a different gauge somewhere else. If I do have to get in there and replace it, can I use aftermarket version that works better? Are there wireless versions of such things?

I would like to know what my pressure is again before winter rolls around.

Might be the gauge itself. I had a couple go out in my OBS pickups. It also might possibly be the harness connector on the firewall or a bad switch. I doubt there is an actual wiring problem.

Take a look at this sticky thread.

I am pretty sure the oil pressure switch circuit runs in this harness that has given many V8 Explorers trouble.
Well I am going to do an oil change as soon as I get my second rear strut in. I will have a look at that area when I am under to change out the filter. In some ways it would be nice if that was it because that will be way easier to fix then a repair that involves pulling the dash.

Thanks for the tip.
