I cant be sure if I'm interpreting things right, because I don't even know if this is possible, but I keep having to add oil, yet my 94 explorer doesn't seem to be leaking at all, and there's no white smoke. however, my transmission is substantially fuller than last time I checked (without me adding any) and my 2-3 flare has turned into a 4500 RPM flare

ideas please. I'm kind of a mechanical noob, but I'm not afraid to try.

any help would be great!

unless its darker than its supposed to be then its not oil but when you add fluid your supposed to run it through all the gears first and make shure it is at operating temp so if you didnt do one of these things mabe youre getting different readings on the dipstick.

yes I checked it after driving for 1/2 an hour. I'm loosing about a quart every 2-3 weeks, is it possible to burn that much without smoking like a chimney?

as for the color, I cant really tell if it's too dark or not. I'm going to try to suck some fluid out through the dipstick tube with a small hose or something. mainly just to get my tranny level back down. it's pretty freaking high right now

Yes my 2.9 would go though that much oil and didn't smoke.

check your vacuum lines, if it's wet then have your tranny's vacuum modulator checked.

if so make shure that after you fix it you replace the fluid.
