Ok so today my and a friend were talking about the dipsticks in our explorers. So now we have a question, when the oil is full on the dipstick should it be at the second hole the upper hole, or should it be at the top of the X pattern which is halfway to the second hole. Thanks

Like should it be at number one in the hatched section, or at the second dot at arrow two. I finally got a pic so people can see.

usually anywhere in the cross marks is considered OK

Why- that's the correct answer... When the engine is cool, it should be in the hash marks. Past that is overfull. If checking when warm or running it will be low, since there is oul on the upper end and more in the filter.
