Oil Life Monitor

I would just like some clarification. Does the oil life monitor on the 2006 V8 only go by distance traveled and/or time or is there actually some type of oil monitor? I'm assuming its the former but would just like to get confirmation.

The monitor is purely a distance traveled since the last reset. The mileage can be changed to go off at 3000, 5000, or 7500 miles I believe. The techs used to always forget to reset my vehicle after every oil change so I got quite familiar with that indicator.

This is from my 06 Owners Man. Looks like it goes by miles and days.

Oil Life Start Value
1. Select this function from the SETUP MENU for the current display mode.
2. Press and hold the TRIP/RESET control switch to reset oil change.
3. Press the TRIP/RESET control
switch for the next SETUP MENU item or wait for more than 4 seconds to return to the INFO MENU.
Note: Oil Life Start Value of 100% equals 5,000 miles (8,000 km) and 180 days. Setting Oil Life Start Value to 60% sets the Oil Life Start Value to 3,000 miles (4,828 km) and 120 days
