It is not uncommon for a new engine to burn a little oil for the first 5 to 10K miles. I recomend replacing the plugs and putting another 1K miles on the engine, then pull all of them and check for any more signs of oil. If the oil returns I'd take it stright back to where you got it and make them do a complete check of the engine's condition.

WHE I NOTICED THE IOL RESIDUE THAATS WHEN I PUT BRAND NEW SPARK PLUGS LAST WEEK.

lay of the caps please

where did you obtain the engine from? the dealer? or a secondary source? when it comes to having an engine rebuilt, i would only trust the dealer for their warranty or my friend who owns a machine shop.... a motor isnt something i would want to replace all the time... i trust my friends work as i have seen and heard the types and caliber of his customeers.... a lot of his customers have so much faith in his engine rebuilds that they put a sponsor type labeling painted onto their racecars... i know for a fact they do that b/c they stand behind his work and not becuase he compensates them in any way.......

Yup, could definately just be a gasket. Good luck!
