I changed my spark plugs today,Bosch+4, it was alot easier than I thought! But my question is why I have oil on my old plugs. I had the valve cover gaskets changed not to long ago b/c of an oil leak, so I shouldn't have this problem any more should I? Is there something else that caused oil on the plugs? I don't want the new 6 dollar plugs to go bad b/c of oil!

could be about a million things, but this is what happened to me: bad intake and exhaust valves on my #5 cylinder. depending on what your mileage is, a valve job can fix such a problem. mine had 140k on it when this happened, so rather than band-aid a turd and only put a new head on, she got a new motor. could also be piston ring wear, or it could be that the valve cover gasket wasn't installed right. like I said, could be a million things. so, let's narrow it down: was there oil on ALL the plugs, or only a couple? have you looked at the new plugs since you put them in to see if there is any oil on them? were your spark plugs replaced when you had the gasket job done? who installed your valve cover gaskets? how many miles are on your truck? have you noticed it burning or pushing oil lately?
