Oil pan clearance.

i did try a search but nothing came up

is there a way to change the oil pan and gasket on a 1992 3.0, 2wd, aerostar without removing the transmission......has anyone here done that
i did try to replace mine about 6 years ago but gave up after eventually loosening the tranny and moving it back a little and still couldn't get enough room to drop the pan at the front. i guess it will not clear the pump.....willing to try again if someone has done it....

I removed the pan on my 1988 model several years ago to replace the oil pump without removing the transmission. Disconnect the mounts, and place a jack under the engine (away from the pan) to get a little more clearance.
