So I'm looking at replacing at least one rod bearing, obviously I will try to replace all in the process. I'd honestly prefer to pull the motor but space and time are at a premium here and I'm not sure if I can get away with having an engine on a stand for a month or more.
Any way...
I know that I was never able to clear an oil pan on a 2.8/2.9 past the crossmember without a ton of work, jacking the engine up several inches, snaking the pan past the crank and pump pickup, etc. I'm assuming that the 4.0 in the Explorer is going to be exactly the same?
I don't have my Bronco II any more so I can't compare the two. I'm just assuming that pulling the pan on the Explorer is an equal PITA.
I need to replace throw out bearing and pilot bearing as well so I really should pull the whole deal, but I just wanna know.
