OK guys your probably all gonna call me stupid. Thats fine whatever. I know how to do things on vehicles. However I went to change the oil on the Ex and was surprised not to find a normal oil pan. I feel stupid having to ask but is this it and is that the drain plug?

If not where is it? lol

Looks like it to me. As long as its not on the trans, differential, or transfercase then its the oil drain plug.

ok I kinda figured it was. I crawed under it and thought holy crap it looks like one big trany under here. I didn't want to drain the wrong thing. I did that once when I was younger to my mom's car. My dad still makes fun of me about that.

OT for being a 4x4 these things sit kinda low to the ground. I know I need shocks but damn its low.

Nothing a torsion twist, some shackles, and some 31 inch tires cant fix :)

ha ha this is my beater, gas saver, not gonna spend much money on vehicle. Gonna try to only spend money on things I NEED for it. The toys are the Stang and the Ram. The Ram is the project of the moment. The guy really needs to get my engine done. I miss my truck.

Well besides blue lights maybe. I gotta wack my stuff out

Got it changed. Oil was damn clean so I looked over the PO's records. It only had 1682 miles on it. Oh well at least I know for sure when it was changed and at what mileage.

Looks like you need a new rear main.

That doesnt sound like fun. Any how to's on here?

I dont wanna sound like a noob but what does the rear main seal seal?

It is an oil seal. I'm assuming the black/wet spots on the tranny and oil pan are oil from the seal. Mine was leaking and looked similar to that but it wasn't as bad. There was never enough oil lost to register on the dipstick though.

The tranny has to come out to change that seal, I don't think there are any how-to's for it on here.

No fun. If I ever have to do that ill shoot a vid of it.

I'll throw in my knowledge here. The rear main is a seal between the crank and the block.

Which size is the wrench needed for the oil pan drain plug ? im too lazy for now to get under the truck...

Monday i´ll be changing the oil too....

Perfect. Thanks.

Might as well so a full rebuild if your gunna replace that then.

Yeah I think my 4.0 was 1/2" as well

hahaha, thanks, i was busy installing a subwoofer box yesterday, so i did not wanted to crawl under the car.

But well, tomorrow i will be doing air-oil-fuel filter change and oil change too, so i´ll have enough time to look under the truck...and a fuel bath
