- 1999 Ford Ranger 4x4
Hi Folks,
Glad I found you guys and gals! I have a '99 Ranger 4x4. Bought it new and I've recently had a new engine installed. Tranny was rebuilt at 65K. Currently has 145K miles on it.
I'm currently fussing with two problems. 1) Switching from 2WD to 4WD. It gets stuck in 4WD. 2) The oil pressure gauge is on the fritz.
About the oil gauge: I've replaced the oil pressure sensor because the gauge needle was on the wrong side of the little post it rests on when the engine is off.
Worked fine for a couple of days. After that I noticed that the gauge needle would twitch every so often. Yesterday morning I noticed that the needle was again on the wrong side of the resting post. I fished the gauge back on the correct side of the rest post and started the engine. I noticed that when I put the turn signal on, the oil pressure gauge moves a small amount in sync with the turn signal. Sounds like there is a short in the wiring harness, but I was hoping someone might have seen this before and give me a pointer or two. Thanks.
