Hey guys im curious about my 98 4.0L sport i just got it about 4 weeks ago and still haven't been able to figure out WTF is going on with my pressure gauge. It seems to me that the guy that had it before me did something under the hood and now it starts below the needle so when i run it i don't really know if its got adequate engine pressure or what

Interesting.... I'm not sure its a real gauge any ways. On my 98 as soon as it starts it goes right to the center, instantly. I have never seen it fluctuate even a hair in the 5 years I have had the truck.

i just find it weird how my needle is below the low mark as if it did a full counter clockwise rotation and now it just rests on the underside of the L on the gauge

welcome

try cleaning your grounds and making sure they are tight. look on the radiator support and the bottom starter bold, both very easily accesable. remove them, clean all contact points with a wire brush and make sure they are tight. fixed my oil pressure guage :)
