When its cold outside in the morning or sometimes when i havent started it in awhile(12 hours) this could also just be becasue its cold. but anyway it reads no oil pressure for about 2-6 min depending on how cold it is outside. then sudenly it will jump up in the middle. No tinking noise so i know im getting enough oilpressure when started. what could this be? if its the sensor where is it? and is it hard to replace?

It's a bad sensor, which is actually only a switch. The oil pressure idiot light which Ford disguises as a gauge only reads pressure or no pressure.

From the Ford manual:

"Oil Pressure Indicator Switch"
The oil pressure switch is installed in the engine block and consists of a diaphragm and contact points. With oil pressure, the contact points close causing the gauge to indicate NORMAL oil pressure. With no oil pressure, the contacts open and the gauge indicates low oil pressure.

Needs oil pressure sending unit.

I jus did it on my BroncoII and it was pretty easy. I think on my 99 OHV the o/p sender is in the same location accessible through the wheel well driver side. on the front driver side of the motor. before I put the new sender in I screwed in the o/p gauge to check.

My 2000 Limited did the same thing until I replaced the oil pressure sensor.

K thanks everyone ill try replacing the oil pressure sending unit
